Dear Elstow Church,
Welcome again to the weekly church e-mail. February 21st is the First Sunday in Lent, but is not considered part of the 40 days which comprise the Lenten season. So if you’re fasting (like me, with just one meal a day) Sundays really are a feast day. Yay! A few people have asked about the Church Magazine. We have made the decision not to continue with this at the moment. It’s been difficult to know what to publish when what we can do and plan for is constantly changing according to guidelines, also it’s not been possible to get it printed with our supplier being closed during lockdown. We do hope to re-start a magazine in some form, when life starts to return to a new normality.
If you’re still wondering what you could do for Lent why not consider 40 pence for 40 days for the Bedford Foodbank. I’ve attached a leaflet to this email, along with this weeks ‘Reach Out’. If you have not received a Lenten letter from the church mailing this week please do let me know.
This Sunday we are going to trial live-streaming the Sunday 10:00am Eucharist direct to our YouTube channel instead of Facebook so hopefully more people can connect.
There is an on-line Zoom Sunday school this week at 11:00am (let me know if you’d like to join). We will also gather at 11:30am via Zoom on Sunday for the weekly coffee and natter.
The wisdom of the ages invites us once again this Lent to this marvelous opportunity to find God in our lives; let us take care that we do not waste it.
